The sprint to the end of 2016

Hi all.

The Parent's Committee met on 27 October and have set aside some key dates in the lead up to the end of term and 2016:

Christmas Tree Sales - Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th December 2016 at Bunnings Coburg
Each year we sell freshly harvested Christmas trees to raise funds for the Group.
This is done in conjunctions with a number of other Groups in our district (including 1st Oak Park).
We are looking for helpers during these days to help sell the trees, and assist with deliveries.
For those who help out, it's a chance to get first pick to buy a great Christmas tree!
Contact Connie on 0408 320 028 if you can help or sign up on the roster at the hall from next week

End of Year BBQ and Working Bee - Sunday 11 December 2016 at the scout hall
We have some urgent work needed on the hall so have decided to use the late morning and early afternoon (11am - 3pm) for a working bee.  Jobs we hope to get done include:

  • Handywork and repairs
  • Kitchen improvements
  • Painting
  • Cleaning and organising
  • Preparation for the end of year party (food prep, setting up etc)

If you have any special skills or trades, let us know by email, as we would value any skilled help to make the hall better for our kids!

AND THEN............
From 3pm we down tools for all Scouts, Cubs and their families for our annual FREE End of Year BBQ.
This is a chance to celebrate the year that was, and for us all to have some fun, food and festivities to mark the upcoming holidays. Here's whats planned:

  • BBQ dinner and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided (parents can BYO alcohol)
  • All Cubs and Scouts will get a gift from the Group (some useful camping stuff I hear)
  • Families are encouraged to bring a salad or dessert plate (please no peanuts)
  • Kids (including non-uniformed siblings) can join in Kris Kringle (BYO a gift up to $10 wrapped)

Please RSVP by 4th December 2016 by email: 1stcoburgscoutsgroup@gmail.com and include:
  • your availability for the working bee
  • How many adults and kids will be coming to the BBQ
  • Any dietary requirements or food allergies.

2017 Parent's Committee Meetings
Finally Committee has set the following dates for Committee meetings to be held at the scout hall from 7:15pm :
  • Thursday 2 February 2017
  • Thursday 20 April 2017
  • Thursday 20 July 2017
We would love as may parents to be part of these meetings. All parents are entitled to attend and participate in the decision making of our Group.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped make 2016 one of the most successful years in recent history!
