13 September 2016

Hi all.

A few updates before the end of term break-ups happening this week.

School Holidays
As we wind down for the end of term 3, Cubs and Scouts will be taking a well deserved break over the holidays. So no Cubs and Scouts during the school holidays.

  • Cubs will be back on Thursday night 6 October 2016.
  • Leader Rachel McMahon will email the Scouts return date.

Bunnings BBQ - Saturday 8 October
We have the last BBQ fundraiser for 2016 on Saturday 8 October 2016 (8am - 4pm) at Bunnings Coburg on Gaffney Street.

As a spring Saturday BBQ, this is a huge chance to raise some more funds for the Group.  It will be busy but a lot of fun, so we need parents to step up and volunteer.

Please email me at paulie.ferrari@bigpond.com with your name, mobile and time you are available, including a second preference time. We are looking for 2 hours from each family to make this a success.

Please don't underestimate how important these fundraising events are.  Last week the Group purchased 4 new tents using the proceeds from the August BBQ fundraiser. Every dollar goes into equipment, facilities and materials for our kids.

District Cub Camp
Last but not least, good luck to all the cubs heading to District Camp this weekend. Also a huge thanks to all the parents and helpers heading along for the trip.  Have a great time!

Regards

We've got a Local Matters Jar at Grill'd Northland this month - spread the word!

A tasty way to raise some $$$ for 1st Coburg Scouts

Some great news from our former treasurer Melinda Christophersen.  For the Month of September, 1st Coburg Scouts has a jar for Local Matters.  There are three community groups and we share from the $500 Grill'd donates to these groups, with the most successful getting $300 and the other two group $100 each.

How do we get the $300?

Every person who visits Grill'd and buys a meal gets a bottle top toke to put into one of three jars (one for each community group).  The group with the highest number of tokens get the $300.

So if you're at Northland and like a burger or ten, make sure you pop into Grill'd and make your token count!

If you or your family/friends have any other fundraising ideas for the Group, contact me with your idea so we can check it out.

Finally a huge thanks to Melinda for keeping on top of this, even after leaving the committee more than 12 months ago. THANKS!
